Richard Sorenson, born on November 5, 1943, in Denton, Texas, passed away on April 17, 2025, in his home in Clifton, Texas. Richard was a loving, humble, dedicated, and adventurous man who lived his life with a dry sense of humor and a heart full of love for his family. A man who defined himself by his actions rather than his words, Richard relished his role as a loving husband, dad, papa, and friend.
Richard was a dedicated worker in the steel mill industry, retiring from Chaparral Steel in Midlothian, Texas in 2007 after many years of service. Known for his exceptional wit, Richard loved to use humor to engage with colleagues, family, and friends. He was passionate about his hobbies, which included hunting, antiquing, and traveling. Living on a farm, Richard also took great pride in taking care of his cows. He was an adventurous soul, constantly seeking new experiences and challenges. But above all, Richard was a loving family man. His wife, Barbara, whom he doted over endlessly, his grandkids, and his two dogs, Emma and Jessie, meant the world to him. He was a guide, a mentor, and a friend to many, always there with advice or a joke when needed.
Richard is survived by his daughters, Tracie and Misty Harvey; Deborah and Leslie Sorenson; his grandchildren, Shalyn and husband Zach Jones, Nathan and wife Kayla Choate, Bryce and husband Johnny Choate, Demi Sanders, and Jaradyn Saul; his sister, Linda and husband Jeff Werner, and nieces, Cheryl Parsa-Brown and Carol Gist, and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Sorenson; his parents, Ray and Idell Sorenson; his sister, Kenneth Idell; and his grandson, Jeffrey Sanders.
