Midlothian, Texas
Orval Stanley Bates (also known as O.S. and Elvis) was born on September 28, 1952 in Abilene, TX to Orval and Betty Sue Bates and passed away on December 18, 2015 in Itasca, TX. Stanley served in the Army as a military police officer and after leaving the military he resided in East Texas and worked in the oilfield. Stanley was a free spirit and enjoyed his rides on his Harley, his nephew was his riding partner. He loved watching his Dallas Cowboys, old Westerns and reading books. He never missed a football game when his grandsons played and loved riding horses with his granddaughter and his pet Rooster, Whiten. He loved sitting and telling stories over and over (sometimes the same one) and there was never a dull moment when he was around. Stanley was the type of person to give his last dollar and the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. The grandkids learned real fast if the parents said no, he would always let them do it and it always ended with someone getting or in trouble. You never met someone who loved their family more than he did. When you were friends with Stanley it was a lifelong friendship. He always had you laughing. He lived the last three years in a manner he didn't like but he lived to see his family. Stanley is survived by his children, Tina Mobley and husband, Brian and Stacey Williams and husband, Larry, grandchildren, Jeremy Williams, Junior Mobley, Ty Pate, Justin Williams and wife, Savannah. Rylie Williams and Tyla Williams and one great-grandchild on the way, sister Charlotte Beck and husband, Joe, and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nancy Brooks. He will be missed more than he knows. Rest with the Lord and we will be just fine..
