Mark McComas

–

Midlothian , Texas

Mark David McComas left this world all too early and unexpectedly on March 31, 2026. He was 57 years old.

Born in Dallas, Texas on June 7, 1968, to Daniel and Connie McComas, Mark lived a life, dedicated to lovingly supporting those around him, especially his family.

Mark grew up in Duncanville, Texas, where he attended Duncanville high school. It was there that he met Debbie Parks McComas. She fought with the idea of commitment. He fought for it. And he won. Their first date was February 8, 1985, and what followed was a 41 – year love affair that fairytales cannot match. Mark and Debbie traveled the world together, built a beautiful family together, and created a legacy together.

Mark realized his passion for architecture, graduating from the University of Texas at Arlington with an architecture degree. He began his career in New Orleans, Louisiana, designing starter homes that maximized livable space. When he and Debbie moved back to the Dallas area, he spent close to a decade at SHW group, a larger architecture firm that specialized in schools. While at SHW, Mark learned that he had a special talent for solving problems and often worked in project management roles, mediating conflicts between school districts and contractors.

Mark brought those same mediation skills home with him where he perpetually served the role of peacemaker. Mark and Debbie had three children together – Kyle, Sean, and Kailey. Those three children were the center of Mark‘s world. When Kyle wanted to play soccer Mark stepped in to help coach. When Sean developed an interest in horses, Mark became a rancher. And when Kailey became a dancer, Mark gladly wore a Hulk Hogan costume and danced with his daughter during a halftime show. Nothing made him happier in life than watching the people around him succeed. He was selfless when it came to his family, so much so that he walked away from the big firm job after Kailey was born to have more flexibility.

And that’s when he met Roger Stephens, a fellow architect with a small firm that just needed a little extra help. For the next 20 years, Roger and Mark helped each other create a thriving, small firm architectural practice.

Mark was happy. He counted his blessings every day and he lived a life that most only dream of. He leaves this world with no “what ifs”. He left us way too soon, but his family will forever cherish the time we had with this amazing man and will hold steadfast to the model he set for us as a loving, selfless, and principled father, husband, and friend.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Connie Lynn McComas. He leaves behind his wife, Debbie; his children Kyle (Hope), Sean (Christina), and Kailey; father, Dan (Lori); brother Scott; and grandchildren, Magnolia and Cypress.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 6-10 pm with remarks beginning at 7 pm at 6054 Honeysuckle Road, Midlothian, TX 76065. A memorial service will follow Saturday, April 18 at 2 pm at Third Church of Christ, Scientists, Dallas 75219.
