Katy Fern Schoonover (Mitchell) Obituary (1940

Katy Fern Schoonover, age 81, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family, on September 1, 2021. She was born February 4, 1940 in Amherst, Texas to Freddy and Zola Mitchell. She married her longtime friend and love of her life, Charles Schoonover, in November 19, 1964 who preceded her in death in 2018. Also, Katy was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Doris Jean Hughitt. Katy enjoyed spending time with her family and was happiest when her house was full with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved fishing, camping and playing 42. She enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and children, while he was enlisted in the army, and was just as happy and content when they eventually retired and settled in their home in Midlothian, TX in March of 1978. She was proud of her work with AT&T before retirement after over 20 years of employment.
