Curtis Deryl "C.D." Griffith left this life Friday, July 21, 2017 at 3:02 a.m.. Deryl was born in Morton, TX on March 2, 1939 and lived in Brady until he was a sophomore in high school when the family moved to Eufaula, OK. His outstanding talents in football were shared with both the Brady Bulldogs and the Eufaula Ironheads during his high school career. He attended Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene on a football scholarship and later transferred to North Texas University in Denton. On September 11, 1959, Deryl and Jean Ann Coleman were married in Tulsa, OK and they began their journey into a life of wedded bliss. Deryl had numerous jobs during their first few years of married life, ultimately settling into a position of insurance salesman, which was a most unlikely job for him. If you knew Deryl, you knew he was a man of few words who never spoke without first mulling over his response in his mind; not your typical salesman, but when he spoke, everyone listened! Later in life, he turned to his true passion; building houses. He launched into this field with no professional training; he just knew how to do it! C.D. Griffith Custom Homes grew into a very successful, fulfilling occupation for Deryl. Deryl was a member of First Baptist Church of Eufaula. He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Mike Griffith, in 2015. Survivors include his wife, Jean Ann Griffith, daughter, Melanie Rodges and husband, Tony, son, Scott Griffith and wife, Donna, daughter-in-law, Joyce Griffith, grandchildren, Tiffany Simpson and husband, Jeff, Madison Rodges, Melissa Hazelip and husband, Danial, Melanie Riggs and husband, Jeff, Michael Chiles and wife, Keri, Nathan Griffith, Chris Griffith, Mitchell Griffith and Gabbie Griffith, 10 great-grandchildren, sisters, Charlotte Bryson and Vicki Brown and husband, Jimmy and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations be made to assist with final expenses. Donations may be made to the Curtis Deryl Griffith Memorial Fund at Citizen's National Bank, 1021 E. Main St, Midlothian, TX. In addition, a Go Fund Me account has been established in Deryl's name or you may send your donation directly to Jean A. Griffith, 1310 S. 5th St., Midlothian. Your help is sincerely appreciated at this difficult time.
