Marcus Wayne Mckee Obituary (1943

Mark McKee, son of Otis Hughey and Vera Bearden McKee, died at home on October 13, 2020, in the presence of his family. He was born October 19, 1943 at Sheppard Field base in Wichita Falls, TX. His father was in the medical corps of the US Army at Mark's birth. Mark attended most of his early school years at Buckner Children's Home, where his parents worked as staff. Buckner students then moved to Samuel High School, where Mark joined the class of 1962. During high school, Mark earned his barber's license, and worked in Dallas cutting hair until he felt his calling to the military. Mark was eager to join the US Air Force and was extremely proud of the time he spent serving his country. He served all 4 years at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, during the Vietnam war. During his service, he worked loading and stocking B-52 bombers. Following his military service, Mark was employed in the printing industry. During his career, Mark held positions at the Region X Service Center and taught printing at Andrews HS and then Duncanville HS, where he met his wife Kena. His favorite job was with Southwest Airlines, managing the print shop, uniforms, mail room and worked with the company's "people search" travel team. Mark earned the Herb Kelleher President's Award in 1995. Later, CVS Pharmacy became Mark's long-time career until his retirement, after which he continued to work part-time until 2017. He made many lifelong friends in all of his careers, as to know Mark was to love him. Mark was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather (Pop), and he enjoyed spending time with family more than anything. Mark also loved reading scripture, deepening his faith and spending time with God. He also enjoyed golfing, spending time on the patio with friends, listening to good music and watching classic movies. Mark is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kena McKee; daughters, Carrie White and Meghan Wish; grandchildren, Lane (16), Nathan (14), Blake (11), Jillian (10) and Wesley (2); son-in-laws, Ryan White and Kevin Wish; and sister, Brooke McKee.
